I know the day I'll die, she thinks, as she leaps out over the edge of the building. |
She twists her body, and the air pushes and pulls at her falling
mass. She faces upward to the sky and sees his silhouette. Her muscles sing a
song of praise underneath her skin; the blood in her veins keeps the time with
it's beating. She sees his strong arm swing out to the side, flinging
some weighted object out to the left of him. She notices that the object
is in the shape of a claw, and to it is attached a nylon line. Her hero pulls
the line tight just moments after the weight finds purchase and suddenly she
feels his body against hers. It's warm and beautiful, and every other detail is
lost to her senses as she holds tight to the body she loves, and takes the
whole of him in. She does not notice when he shifts his weight slightly,
causing them to travel in an arc toward a nearby rooftop. It barely registers
in her mind when their feet touch solid ground.
"Again?" he asks, and in his voice
there is a story of disappointment. He loves her, although he has not yet said
as much.--
